# Raster to SVG vectorizer > Browser-only file conversion. Selected files are processed on this device and are not uploaded to a conversion server. Source: https://localconverter.tech/image-vectorize Trace a raster illustration into SVG paths that can be selected and edited in a vector application. Choose colour tracing or a black-and-white silhouette, adjust colour precision and remove small speckles. Simple logos and high-contrast shapes generally produce more manageable results than detailed photographic textures. ## Useful tasks - Trace a simple raster logo - Create a silhouette from a high-contrast graphic - Convert flat artwork into editable paths ## Steps 1. **Prepare a small clear image**: Upload one supported raster image of no more than four million pixels. Prefer clean edges and a simple background for a more useful trace. 2. **Choose tracing behaviour**: Select colour or black and white, then set colour precision and speckle removal. More detail can create more shapes, while filtering removes tiny regions. 3. **Generate the SVG paths**: Run Create output and wait for tracing to finish. The tool checks that the result contains vector paths rather than merely embedding the source bitmap. 4. **Inspect and refine the trace**: Download the SVG and open it in a vector editor. Check small features, path complexity and colours, then refine shapes manually where the automatic trace needs help. ## Settings - **Trace colours**: Choose trace colours according to the result you need. Available choices: Colour; Black and white. The initial selection is Colour. - **Colour precision**: Colour precision accepts values from 1 to 8, using whole numbers. The initial value is 6. Change it for a specific output requirement, then check the result before processing more files. - **Remove speckles (px)**: Remove speckles (px) accepts values from 0 to 100, using whole numbers. The initial value is 4. Change it for a specific output requirement, then check the result before processing more files. ## A silhouette for a small badge A high-contrast black mark is available only as PNG. Select black-and-white tracing and moderate speckle removal to avoid retaining isolated dots. Download the SVG, inspect the outer contour and adjust any small openings in a vector editor before producing the badge. ## Check the result Upload a supported file, adjust the settings and create the output. Creates traced paths, not an embedded bitmap. Input is limited to 4 million pixels for tracing. Open the saved output in the app or workflow where you plan to use it. Check one representative result before repeating the same settings with more files. The original files stay unchanged. ## Limits - Files are processed on this device. Browser memory and engine-specific limits apply. Save results before reloading. - Creates traced paths, not an embedded bitmap. Input is limited to 4 million pixels for tracing. - Upload one file with a combined size of at most 100 MB. The completed output must fit within 200 MB. - Files are checked by the local engine; a matching filename alone is not proof of valid contents. - Selections and completed jobs stay available while you navigate inside this tab. Use My files to revisit results. Reloading or closing the tab clears the workspace; download results you want to keep first. ## Questions ### Is the SVG an embedded photograph? No. The tracer creates SVG paths and verifies that the output contains paths rather than an embedded bitmap. The visual approximation still depends on the source and tracing settings, so detailed textures can become many small shapes. ### How does colour precision affect output? Colour precision controls how finely colours are distinguished during a colour trace. Higher precision can retain more variation but may increase complexity. Try a lower setting for flat artwork when tiny colour differences are not useful. ### What does speckle removal do? Speckle filtering removes small traced regions according to the chosen setting. It can clean dust and isolated pixels, but a high value can also remove intentional dots or fine features, which should be checked in the result. ### Why is the input limited to four million pixels? Tracing creates geometry from pixel regions and is more demanding than a simple raster conversion. The four-million-pixel bound keeps the operation manageable; resize a large source while retaining clear edges before tracing it here. ### Does Raster to SVG vectorizer upload files to another service? Processing runs in this browser, on your device. Files and pasted input are not uploaded to a conversion server. The website and required engine assets must load first; large operations depend on available device memory. ### Can I continue after changing pages?
