Mute video

Save a copy of your video with its audio removed. Use Mute video locally with practical instructions, output settings and format limits.

A practical guide

Mute video

Create a video copy without an audio track while choosing a useful segment and output encoding. Select start, length, maximum width and quality to prepare a silent demonstration or visual-only clip. The tool re-encodes the picture and removes sound from the resulting file, which should be checked before publishing.

  • Remove room sound from a demonstration
  • Prepare a silent visual loop
  • Create a video excerpt without narration

How to use Mute video

  1. Choose the source video

Add one supported video and identify the section you want to keep. A video that already lacks sound can also be encoded as a silent copy.

  2. Select the visual segment

Enter start and length in seconds, up to the supported 120-second segment length. These settings determine which portion of the source picture is retained.

  3. Choose format and mute

Set output format, maximum width and quality, then run Mute video. The output is encoded without mapping a source audio track into the new file.

  4. Verify the silent output

Download and play the complete clip. Check the selected pictures and confirm that the destination player has no audio from the original recording.

Understand the settings

Output format
Choose output format according to the result you need. Available choices: MP4; WEBM; MOV; MKV. The initial selection is MP4.
Maximum width
Maximum width accepts values from 16 to 1920, using whole numbers. The initial value is 1280. Change it for a specific output requirement, then check the result before processing more files.
Quality (lower = better)
Quality (lower = better) accepts values from 16 to 45, using whole numbers. The initial value is 26. Change it for a specific output requirement, then check the result before processing more files.
Start (seconds)
Start (seconds) accepts values from 0 to 7200, in increments of 0.1. The initial value is 0. Change it for a specific output requirement, then check the result before processing more files.
Length (seconds)
Length (seconds) accepts values from 0.1 to 120, in increments of 0.1. The initial value is 20. Change it for a specific output requirement, then check the result before processing more files.

A silent product demonstration

A short product recording includes unwanted room conversation. Select its twenty-second demonstration, choose MP4 and an appropriate width, then run Mute video. Play the new file with sound enabled in the player to verify that the recording’s audio is absent.

Check your result

Upload a file, adjust settings and run the tool. All processing uses the local engine. Media jobs are bounded to 120 seconds; animations to 240 frames, 30 seconds and 64 million decoded pixels. Open the saved output in the app or workflow where you plan to use it. Check one representative result before repeating the same settings with more files. The original files stay unchanged.

What to know before you start

  • Files are processed on this device. Browser memory and engine-specific limits apply. Save results before reloading.
  • Media jobs are bounded to 120 seconds; animations to 240 frames, 30 seconds and 64 million decoded pixels.
  • Upload one file with a combined size of at most 100 MB. The completed output must fit within 200 MB.
  • Files are checked by the local engine; a matching filename alone is not proof of valid contents.
  • Selections and completed jobs stay available while you navigate inside this tab. Use My files to revisit results. Reloading or closing the tab clears the workspace; download results you want to keep first.

Mute video: common questions

Is the audio just turned down?

The output is created without an audio track rather than retaining the original sound at a low volume. This is useful when the saved file should be a silent visual asset in a presentation or page.

Does muting preserve the original video encoding?

The tool re-encodes the picture using the selected format, width and quality. It is not a stream-copy-only operation, so inspect motion and small details if you need the muted version to remain visually close to the source.

Can I mute only part of the sound?

This tool removes audio from the complete selected output segment. It does not provide a timeline for muting particular words while retaining other sound. Prepare separate edits in an audio/video editor for that kind of selective treatment.

How do I add different audio afterward?

Use the downloaded silent video as the first file in Replace video audio, followed by a separate audio file. Choose matching trim settings and review synchronization, since replacing audio is a separate output creation step.

Does Mute video upload files to another service?

Processing runs in this browser, on your device. Files and pasted input are not uploaded to a conversion server. The website and required engine assets must load first; large operations depend on available device memory.

Can I continue after changing pages?

Selections and completed jobs stay available while you navigate inside this tab. Use My files to revisit results. Reloading or closing the tab clears the workspace; download results you want to keep first.
