Read QR & barcode

Read a QR code or common barcode from an image and download its text. Use Read QR & barcode locally with practical instructions, output settings and format limits.

A practical guide

Read QR & barcode

Read the text from one clearly visible QR code or common barcode in an image and save the decoded value. Use it to inspect a supplied label or recover a URL without manually typing the symbol’s contents. A clear, large, flat code gives the reader a better chance than a blurry or crowded photograph.

  • Read a QR URL from a screenshot
  • Recover text from a clear barcode image
  • Inspect the content of a supplied label

How to use Read QR & barcode

  1. Choose the code image

Upload a supported PNG, JPG, WebP or TIFF image containing one clear code. Avoid very small symbols, strong blur or curved surfaces when preparing the source.

  2. Focus on one readable symbol

No code-format setting is required. If the photo contains several codes or distracting background, prepare a crop around the intended symbol while keeping its clear border.

  3. Decode the image

Run Create result so the reader searches the image for a supported code. If no readable symbol is found, try a clearer or closer source image.

  4. Inspect the decoded text

Download and read the text before using it. For URLs or commands, review the actual value intentionally rather than assuming that successful decoding establishes a trustworthy destination.

Understand the settings

This operation uses fixed output settings. Choose and order the supported files as described above, then review the output notes.

A QR value from a screenshot

A colleague supplies a screenshot containing a large QR code. Upload the image and run the reader, then inspect the decoded URL in the text output. Check its spelling and destination before copying it into a browser or another document.

Check your result

Choose a file or enter text where available. Review the settings, create your result and download the new copy. Reads one clearly visible code. Blurry, tiny, curved or damaged codes may not be readable. Open the saved output in the app or workflow where you plan to use it. Check one representative result before repeating the same settings with more files. The original files stay unchanged.

What to know before you start

  • Files are processed on this device. Browser memory and engine-specific limits apply. Save results before reloading.
  • Reads one clearly visible code. Blurry, tiny, curved or damaged codes may not be readable.
  • Upload one file with a combined size of at most 100 MB. The completed output must fit within 200 MB.
  • Files are checked by the local engine; a matching filename alone is not proof of valid contents.
  • Selections and completed jobs stay available while you navigate inside this tab. Use My files to revisit results. Reloading or closing the tab clears the workspace; download results you want to keep first.

Read QR & barcode: common questions

Can I decode several codes at once?

This workflow is intended to read one clearly visible symbol and returns a single decoded text result. Crop or prepare separate images when a source contains multiple codes and you need to inspect each value independently.

Why can a visible code fail to read?

A symbol can be too small, blurred, curved, damaged or missing its clear surrounding border. Try a sharper image with one large, flat code, or crop distractions without cutting off the border needed for detection.

Does decoding open the URL automatically?

The result is decoded text for you to inspect and download. Read it before deciding how to use it, since a successfully decoded URL can still point somewhere different from what the surrounding label suggests.

Can I read a code from a PDF directly?

This tool accepts supported image formats rather than PDF pages. Render or export the relevant PDF page to a clear still image first, then crop around the intended code while preserving its surrounding clear area.

Does Read QR & barcode upload files to another service?

Processing runs in this browser, on your device. Files and pasted input are not uploaded to a conversion server. The website and required engine assets must load first; large operations depend on available device memory.

Can I continue after changing pages?

Selections and completed jobs stay available while you navigate inside this tab. Use My files to revisit results. Reloading or closing the tab clears the workspace; download results you want to keep first.
