Split PDF

Save the pages you need. Use Split PDF locally with practical instructions, output settings and format limits.

A practical guide

Split PDF

Extract useful pages from a PDF without manually recreating the document. Enter page numbers and ascending ranges, then choose a single PDF containing the selection or a ZIP with one PDF per page. Use it to separate sections, share a short excerpt or archive individual pages.

  • Share selected report pages
  • Separate a packet into individual PDFs
  • Keep only a document appendix

How to use Split PDF

  1. Choose the source PDF

Upload one working, unprotected PDF with no more than 100 pages. Check the document page numbers so your selection matches the actual file positions.

  2. Describe the page selection

Enter individual pages and ascending ranges, such as 1-3, 5. Leave the selection blank to include every page from the source document.

  3. Choose the result structure

Select one PDF to keep the selected pages together, or separate pages to receive a ZIP. The ZIP contains PDF documents rather than page images.

  4. Download the selected pages

Run Split PDF and save the output. Open the PDF or unpack the ZIP, then confirm the selection contains the intended pages and readable content.

Understand the settings

Pages to keep
Pages to keep is applied to this tool job. Use the value or syntax described in the example below. Leave it blank only when the field is described as optional.
Download as
Choose download as according to the result you need. Available choices: One PDF with selected pages; ZIP of separate PDF pages. The initial selection is One PDF with selected pages.

An excerpt for a colleague

A thirty-page report has a useful introduction on pages 1-3 and a summary on page 25. Enter 1-3, 25 and choose one PDF. The downloaded excerpt contains those four selected pages without the rest of the report.

Check your result

Use page numbers and ranges, such as 1-3, 5. Choose one PDF to keep those pages together, or separate pages for a ZIP download. Up to 100 input pages. Password-protected files need an unprotected copy. A ZIP contains separate PDF pages, not images. Open the saved output in the app or workflow where you plan to use it. Check one representative result before repeating the same settings with more files. The original files stay unchanged.

What to know before you start

  • Files are processed on this device. Browser memory and engine-specific limits apply. Save results before reloading.
  • Up to 100 input pages. Password-protected files need an unprotected copy. A ZIP contains separate PDF pages, not images.
  • Upload one file with a combined size of at most 100 MB. The completed output must fit within 200 MB.
  • Files are checked by the local engine; a matching filename alone is not proof of valid contents.
  • Selections and completed jobs stay available while you navigate inside this tab. Use My files to revisit results. Reloading or closing the tab clears the workspace; download results you want to keep first.

Split PDF: common questions

What does a blank selection do?

A blank page selection includes all pages in the source. In separate-pages mode this creates one PDF per page inside a ZIP; in extract mode it keeps all pages together in a new PDF.

Are these printed page numbers?

Selections use the physical page positions in the PDF, starting at one. A document with a cover or Roman-numeral introduction may display different labels, so check page positions in your PDF viewer before extracting.

Will separate pages become images?

No. Separate-pages mode creates individual PDF files and packages them in a ZIP. If you need PNG or JPG page images, use a PDF rendering workflow rather than the PDF splitting operation.

Can a range run backward?

Use ascending ranges such as 4-8, with every number inside the source document. Backward or out-of-bounds ranges are rejected. The separate Reorder PDF tool is more appropriate for explicitly rearranging a document sequence.

Does Split PDF upload files to another service?

Processing runs in this browser, on your device. Files and pasted input are not uploaded to a conversion server. The website and required engine assets must load first; large operations depend on available device memory.

Can I continue after changing pages?

Selections and completed jobs stay available while you navigate inside this tab. Use My files to revisit results. Reloading or closing the tab clears the workspace; download results you want to keep first.
